Ceramide NP
A skin-identical barrier lipid and a staple of K-beauty "barrier repair" formulations.
What is Ceramide NP?
Ceramide NP (formerly ceramide 3) is one of the most used ceramides in cosmetics. It is a key ingredient in barrier-support and "moisture barrier" formulations, especially across K-beauty. Ceramides are typically used at low levels and perform best alongside cholesterol and fatty acids in a balanced lipid system.
Key benefits in cosmetic formulations
- Skin-identical lipid for barrier-support positioning
- Core ingredient in K-beauty "barrier repair" stories
- Effective at low use levels
- Synergistic in cholesterol + fatty-acid lipid blends
Typical use level & formulation notes
- Use level
- 0.05–0.5%
- Solubility
- Oil-soluble (requires heat/co-emulsifiers)
- pH / stability
- Not pH-sensitive in typical use
- Form
- Powder / waxy solid
- Notes
- Pre-melt or fully dissolve in the heated oil phase; pairing with cholesterol and fatty acids gives the most robust barrier-type systems.

Documentation & sourcing
Every batch ships with a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS). We focus on hard-to-source specialty actives with small minimum order quantities, so indie brands and lab formulators can buy realistic amounts and scale later — stocked in and shipped across the EU.
